Pam Malone

Organizing Manager

Pam Malone is a Diné (Navajo) mother living by DookoosÅ‚ííd (San Francisco Peaks) in Kinlani,  (Flagstaff) Arizona.  Pam was born and raised on the Navajo Nation, and Pam is Áshįįhi (Salt Clan/mother); born for the HashtÅ‚'ishnii (Mud Clan/father); and maternal-grandfathers are Tó'tsohnii (Big Water) and her Nali’s are Todích'íí'nii (Bitter Water).  Pam is from the community of Teesto, located in the southwestern area of the Navajo Nation. Pam has a daughter, Samantha Franklin, that is currently attending Coconino High School.

Pam is the new Organizing Manager for Diné C.A.R.E., and Pam earned a dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Political Science and Women Studies in 2002 from the University of New Mexico (UNM) and completed a Graduate Certificate in Ethnic Studies from Northern Arizona University (NAU) in Fall 2012.  She attempted her Master’s in Public Administration at Northern Arizona University from 2012-2017 but left the program due to her mother’s cancer diagnosis as a down-winder from the open Uranium mines in Cameron, Arizona located on the Western agency of the Navajo Nation.  In high school, Pam was a youth member of Teesto Organized Youth (TOY) and while in college at UNM, she was a co-founder of the Petroglyph Monument Protection Coalition, which transitioned into a non-profit organization, Sacred Alliances for Grassroots Equality (SAGE) Council; and later into the Native American Voters Alliance in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  Pam worked for sixteen years grassroots organizing to protect the Petroglyph National Monument from a six-lane highway.  After graduating from UNM, she worked with Young Women United; now Bold Futures in Albuquerque, NM.  Pam continues to be involved with issues of indigenous sovereignty rights, protection of sacred sites, youth organizing, women and gender social justice, voter mobilization, environmental justice, and grassroots organizing for Indigenous communities.
